FORWARD Conference and Policy Brief dedicated to Elisabeth Sclater, OWN-EU Founder
On 28/11/2025, just days after the international Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women the FORWARD conference on the rights of older women took place at the University of Barcelona, Spain. The event was dedicated to the memory of Elizabeth Sclater (1946–2024), a key figure in advancing the rights of older women and co-founder of OWN Europe. Dr. Claudia Mahler, UN Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons, delivered the keynote speech. Four OWN Europe experts are participating in the drafting of the FORWARD policy brief which will be published in Spring 2026 and were on the agenda: Anne-Sophie Parent, Bridget Penhale, Maria Petkova and Janet Stevenson.
